I raised plug-in solar with the Taoiseach back in February, as well as in April, May and June. I raised it the year before in July at the climate and energy committee. The Department confirmed that ESB Networks was working on a group report that would be issued in September. It is now 20 October. Constituents, renters and people across Ireland will benefit from plug-in solar systems being rolled out. Does the Taoisea…

Tá Gaelcholáiste Reachrann i mo Dháilcheantar féin ag fanacht le 25 bliain. Ba é an chéad rud a d'ardaigh mé i mo chéad chruinniú nuair a toghadh mé don Teach seo. It is one of the priorities for me since day one. For 25 years, this school has been waiting for a permanent building. They were promised construction would begin in quarter 3. That slipped to quarter 4 and in a recent parliamentary question, it was in the…

The tender report has reached the Department. They had to add in SEN rooms, which was great, but now it is prolonging the whole experience. It is not good enough. It is great to see the SEN rooms but we need a confirmed date for shovels in the ground.
I thank Sinn Féin for bringing forward this very important motion. I also offer my deepest sympathies to the English family. What happened was absolutely horrific. It is difficult to even find words to describe such an appalling attack, particularly when you think of the young people who were caught up in such terrifying violence. Over the past 90 minutes, I have listened to contributions from Members across this Hou…

120. Deputy Barry Heneghan asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport the position regarding plans to develop new all-weather pitches across north Dublin, including the locations being considered; the funding allocated and the expected timelines for delivery; and whether additional funding will be made available to meet the growing demand from local sports clubs. [74087/26]
Sports Facilities 20 Oct 2026
Across north Dublin, clubs are reaching out to me with difficulties with all-weather pitches. At the start of the year we saw one of the worst wet seasons we have had. I have heard from girls, boys and coaches. All matches have been cancelled due to north Dublin's lack of all-weather pitches. I know more has gone in and I welcome the work of Dublin City Council parks and local reps on the recently opened facility in …
Sports Facilities 20 Oct 2026
I welcome the new community sport facilities fund, especially that large-scale grant, but the real challenge for community clubs is when they lack the resources or the lease to apply for it. I know the Minister of State has acknowledged that. What I would really like for my constituency is a clear list of all the proposed or local authority-proposed all-weather pitches in north Dublin and the funding allocation and d…
Sports Facilities 20 Oct 2026
I welcome that. We have the volunteers, the players, the demand and now we need the pitches.
Sports Facilities 20 Oct 2026
North Dublin has produced some of the best footballers, and we have had this debate before with the Minister of State about where the best footballers are from, but if we are going to continue to do that we need pitches. It is really hard for myself and all the other local representatives for north Dublin to meet local volunteers, parents who get up early for their kid's match, to have it called off. I welcome the w…
Ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a ghabháil leis an Teachta Gogarty agus an rud céanna a rá faoi na haltraí agus na mná ghlúine trasna na tíre, some of whom came to the House. Yesterday, I visited the pickets across my constituency. I spoke with teachers, nurses, SNAs, healthcare workers, local authority staff and other public servants. A lot of them would have known me and would have known my age and were around my age …
15. Deputy Barry Heneghan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine whether, in the context of his Department’s marine responsibilities, his Department is engaging with the Office of Public Works, OPW, MARA, local authorities and other relevant bodies on opportunities for pilot projects that would combine coastal flood protection measures with the enhancement of marine habitats and biodiversity. [70958/…
I want to raise the opportunity for two things to work together: protecting our coastal communities from flooding while improving marine biodiversity. In Clontarf, we have seen the impact of coastal flooding. I welcome the Government's investment and the work of the Minister of State, Deputy Moran. I have been engaging with engineers, researchers and Dublin Port about innovative marine structures that could potential…
Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire. Again, I just want to give that example, which we all saw on RTÉ last year when the flooding hit. There is a huge issue in one of the low points on the seafront in Clontarf with the depositing of silt. There is a solution that will not only stop this but will also benefit the ecosystem of Dublin Bay. I have been working with Councillor Kevin Breen and with engineers and researchers on t…
I thank the Minister very much. My constituents will be delighted with that response. We are just after the budget, when the Minister, Deputy Chambers, spoke about efficiency. We are going to spend a significant amount of public money protecting our coastline in the years ahead. Why should we not look at protecting our homes and improving marine biodiversity at the same time? I welcome what the Minister has just said…
Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire. Tá sé an-tábhachtach go bhfuilimid ag caint faoin ábhar seo: sláinte intinne. I also want to thank the Minister of State for delivering two new Solace mental health cafés for Dublin, one for the north inner city and one for Dublin Mid-West. She knows how much those cafes will make a difference to people. I commend the free counselling that is available online. Since the announcement, a …
Fáiltím roimh gach duine atá anseo, na tuismitheoirí nua agus na páistí ar fad san áireamh. Tá mé an-bhuíoch deis cainte a bheith agam ar an ábhar tábhachtach seo, go háirithe for my two beautiful sisters who have had their beautiful children. My sister and her wife just had their first child, of whom I am now the godfather. It is about celebrating mothers and also the beautiful connection between mother and child. …
16. Deputy Barry Heneghan asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration if he will provide an update on the operation and expansion of community CCTV schemes; the supports available to local communities and local authorities seeking to establish or expand CCTV in areas experiencing persistent antisocial behaviour and crime; and if barriers to the approval or implementation of such schemes are being addre…
Deputy Roche called for more gardaí in constituencies. I would love to have more gardaí in Dublin Bay North. I welcome that the Minister was present earlier in the week at the safety day regarding warnings about fireworks. With Halloween coming and fires across north Dublin, I ask for an update on community CCTV in areas experiencing persistent antisocial behaviour and crime. Is consideration being given to the insta…
Aontaím go hiomlán leis sin. Táim an-bhuíoch as ach níl sé maith go leor. Across north Dublin, we have had fires in playgrounds, public toilets and astro pitches. Taxpayers are paying local property taxes and tax and the amenities need to be protected. We are watching taxpayers' money go up in flames. Almost every year, a fire is lit on the green in Greencastle Crescent, Coolock. I have spoken to residents who do no…
When the Minister was a young lad, he might have heard messages on building sites that warned people that they were on private property and were under CCTV control. North Dublin has experienced high population growth, alongside recent persistent problems with antisocial behaviour. I ask the Minister's officials to chase this up with the local authorities across the constituency I represent. It is not acceptable for a…
