Said and Done is an independent, non-commercial archive of the public record of Dáil Éireann: debates, parliamentary questions, votes and membership history. Everything here is verbatim, dated, and linked to its official source. We add no commentary, scores or verdicts.
Data source and licence
Parliamentary data comes from the Houses of the Oireachtas Open Data API. It is © Houses of the Oireachtas, reused under the Oireachtas (Open Data) PSI Licence. This site is independent of the Houses of the Oireachtas and not endorsed by them.
Changes made: the official XML and JSON records are parsed into a database, and speakers are linked to TDs where the record allows it. Where no confident link exists, the contribution is shown unresolved rather than guessed. The site's own code is licensed AGPL-3.0-or-later; reusing the data carries no AGPL obligations.
Constituency boundaries on the TDs page come from Tailte Éireann's 2023 National Electoral Boundaries, licensed CC BY 4.0. They are simplified for display and are reference material, not part of the parliamentary record.
Provenance
Every document we fetch is archived verbatim and content-addressed by SHA-256 before anything parses it. Each contribution and vote links to its source document, including a view-raw link. Corrections published by the Oireachtas are archived as new versions. Nothing is deleted.
Search and language
Search covers every contribution spoken in the Dáil and every parliamentary question asked, in English and Irish. The official record does not mark which language a contribution is in, so the language filter uses a detected tag. Anything too short to call, or that mixes both languages, is left untagged and always appears under "any language".
The Topics page uses no text analysis. Every parliamentary question is printed in the official questions paper under a subject heading, and those headings are the taxonomy, word for word. The distinctive terms panels count words and phrases used more often in recent months than in the months before, across the whole chamber. No per-TD word statistics are computed anywhere on this site, because distilling one member's words by algorithm would characterise them, and this site records rather than characterises.
Archive status
The archive updates itself from the official API several times a day; the last successful sync finished 2026-09-05 08:50 UTC. Speaker attribution resolves 99.4% of 69,842 debate contributions and 100.0% of 118,011 question askers to a TD. The rest are items the official record does not attribute to a person, such as interjections recorded as “Deputies”.
Reusing this data
Everything here is republished from the Houses of the Oireachtas Open Data API, which is public and machine-readable. If you want the record in bulk or in structured form, take it from api.oireachtas.ie. That is the canonical source, and every page here links to the exact document it came from. Reuse is under the Oireachtas (Open Data) PSI Licence; this site adds no conditions of its own.
