Cancer Services 21 Oct 2026
The Minister of State, Deputy Dillon, is very welcome to the House. When somebody has advanced cancer, being told that another treatment exists brings real hope. Discovering they cannot access it in Ireland brings an entirely different feeling of desperation. That is why I am raising the urgent need for a funded national plan for radioligand therapy, with the infrastructure, staff and access to medicines needed to de…
Cancer Services 21 Oct 2026
I thank the Minister of State for that response. My question was one that I would like to be conveyed to the Minister. The NCCP radioligand therapy advisory group recommended a national plan. It has not met since March 2025. It is now October, nearly November, 2026. It is going to be stood down. It is going to be in existence for only three years. If its members are not meeting, they are not working. The Department o…
Yesterday was a big day for us. It was a historic day where we saw huge parts of the Narrow Water Bridge sail up through Dundalk Bay and into Carlingford Lough. I thank the Taoiseach for his commitment and making sure this project happened for us in County Louth. I will turn to another historic project, namely, the very first all-Ireland university in Dundalk and the partnership with Queens that is huge not only for…
There is a fierce loneliness and sadness in the Chamber today as the State apologises for its own failures to investigate an horrific crime. There is something deeply painful about a family having to spend more than 40 years asking the State to acknowledge that it failed them. My thoughts today are with Sheila, Austin, Oliver and Kieran and everybody who loved Brian Stack. The presence of the Stack family here and th…
It is very worrying to listen to some of the contributions from the Opposition on the Bill. It is absolutely incredible that our Opposition disrespect and do not trust our Defence Forces, do not trust our independent State and do not trust our sovereignty, and want others to make decisions for us. This independence and the proud tradition of neutrality our State proclaims is of huge significance. I hold these things …
I would say that he would absolutely hate that there is a foreign influence on Óglaigh na hÉireann. Frank Aiken oversaw the first peacekeeping mission without the triple lock. Was he not neutral? Were our soldiers doing something wrong without the triple lock? Absolutely not. During his many years at the UN, just like he fought for independence, he spent much of his political life championing the rights of independen…
To mark World Mental Health day, we have to recognise the people who are struggling, often very alone and very isolated; the people who are living with anxiety, depression and serious mental health illness; and the families who are often very worried about someone they love and are trying to find the right support. For too long, they have felt let down by the State. These difficulties affect people from every age and…

10. Deputy Erin McGreehan asked the Taoiseach when the Cabinet committee on Northern Ireland will meet next. [64350/26]

132. Deputy Erin McGreehan asked the Minister for Transport to provide an update on the actions undertaken to improve transport in rural areas. [67411/26]
Public Transport 24 Sep 2026
I am asking about the actions undertaken to improve transport in rural areas, in particular in north Louth and mid-Louth.
Public Transport 24 Sep 2026
As the Minister of State is aware, Louth is the smallest county. Sometimes, one would imagine that it would be easier to get around the county by bus but when one tries to reduce one's reliance on private transport, it feels sometimes like crossing a continent. We all know that rural connectivity is a real programme for Government commitment. We need to be able to travel between our towns and villages and from our ru…
Public Transport 24 Sep 2026
It is positive that the Minister of State is looking at this. We need a robust plan for Louth to allow us to travel across and enjoy our county by bus. It is a fabulous place and the integration of additional routes would be a fantastic investment in the people and roads of County Louth.
Farmers and fishers in County Louth and across the country are being squeezed by rising fuel, fertiliser and fodder costs. These are essential costs, as the Tánaiste knows. A fishing boat cannot go to sea without fuel. A farmer cannot simply skip the buying of winter feed. Rural families depend on their cars, so they feel pressure at work and at home. How is the Government going to continue to support rural communiti…
The Tánaiste might have heard that there is a bit of excitement in Louth at the moment. I do not know if anyone has missed it, but Louth is into its first All-Ireland football semi-final since 1957. This is not just one brilliant season for Louth GAA, however. Louth GAA is on the rise and, thankfully, so too is our stadium. We have a valid application under the large-scale infrastructure fund for phase 2 of our proje…

It is great to have the Minister in the House this morning. I very much welcome the opportunity to have a discussion of a practical nature that will solve this issue and have really positive impacts on patients, staff and the wider health service across the north east. The minor injury unit in Louth County Hospital, Dundalk, is one of the best services in the country. It serves the people of Louth well and we are im…
Hospital Services 1 Jul 2026
It is very rare one gets a really positive response like that in the House. This is great news for everyone in the entire north east. As I said, the minor injury clinic in Dundalk is an incredible resource for all families and people who live in the area. This is really positive news which shows that the work of the staff in Louth County Hospital in Dundalk has been seen to be successful. The HSE and the Minister are…
