I wish the ladies in the Gallery a good morning. We hope they enjoy their tour of Leinster House. There is also a group of people doing work experience with the Department of Education and Youth in the Gallery. They are welcome. We hope they enjoy their day.
I will ask about hospital car parking charges. In the Cavan Monaghan hospital group, the charge to use the car park is €3 per stay, but people from my constituency who travel to Dublin can pay up to €17 to park at a hospital. Fuel, parking and food costs could add up to more than €100 per trip for someone having treatment in a Dublin hospital. I welcome the review of capping car parking charges at €10 per day, but th…
On behalf of the people of the Border counties, I also want to say that our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Waterford and their elected representatives following the tragic events of this week.
With the permission of the House I will go back to question No. 4.
We have now reached the end of the allocated time, but the next Minister has not arrived, so I will allow Deputy Shane Moynihan to ask one question before the Minister arrives.
We will move on.
My question concerns the inadequate school transport services this year and every year for rural families. We see countless families who have paid on time for the tickets they applied for, only to be told there is no place on the bus. Some children, having used a bus for a number of years, were advised this summer that there is no room for holders of concessionary tickets. Parents tell me they see school buses passin…
Seanad Éireann has passed the Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2026 without amendment.
I will ask about home support services, which are raised in my constituency office time and again by families across Cavan and Monaghan. Many people who have been approved for home support hours are still experiencing delays in receiving the care they have been assessed as needing. This creates understandable worry for older people who wish to remain living independently at home and places additional pressure on fami…
Hear, hear. Well said.
What legislation is the Government bringing forward to support our homegrown indigenous companies to grow, scale and compete internationally? For example, in my constituency one company, Combilift, is providing key employment. It is owned by two local businessmen. They are supporting jobs in the region and stimulating our local economy. This one company has a workforce of over 800 direct jobs with hundreds of indirec…
Sorry, Deputies, allow the Tánaiste.
Deputy, allow the Tánaiste.
Deputy Doherty, please.
Thank you, Deputy.
Thank you, Deputy.
Thank you, Deputy.
Tánaiste.
Thank you, Deputy.
Thank you, Deputy.
We only have a few minutes left, but I will let Deputy Murphy ask his question and the Tánaiste reply.
Deputy McAuliffe has the next four questions in a row. We are on Question No. 5.
Is Deputy Murphy taking this question on behalf of Deputy Boyd Barrett?
There is no request in front of me, but that is okay. Away you go, Deputy Murphy.
